Structural and horizontal surfaces

Demolition.

Houses, outbuildings, slabs, foundations and swimming pools. Down, loaded out, and the lot left graded rather than left as a crater.

Demolition is mostly a haul-off job.

Knocking a structure down is the quick part. What you are actually paying for is separating the material, loading it, hauling it and disposing of it legally, and then putting the ground back so the lot is usable. A demolition quote that looks unusually cheap is generally one where the last part has been left out.

We took on a lot of this work after Harvey, including full demolitions and rebuilds of house pads in Kingwood, and the sequence is the same on a flood-damaged house as on an old barn: disconnect, drop, separate, haul, then grade the lot back to something you can build on.

Worth knowing

Asbestos survey and abatement on older structures is a specialist job and it is not something we do. If a building is old enough to need one, that has to happen before we start.

Included in the scope

Structures

Houses, barns, outbuildings and light commercial taken down and loaded out.

Slabs and foundations

Broken out and removed, including the footings, not just the visible surface.

Swimming pools

Removed or filled and compacted properly, so the yard does not sink later.

Separation

Concrete, steel and debris separated so disposal is legal and as cheap as it can be.

Utility disconnects

Coordinated before anything comes down.

Final grade

The lot graded and drained afterwards, ready for whatever comes next.

Questions

What people ask before they call.

Do you fill in swimming pools?

Yes, and there is a right and a wrong way. The shell has to be broken so it drains and the fill has to go in compacted in lifts. A pool that was simply filled with dirt will sink.

Do you handle asbestos?

No. Survey and abatement are specialist work and have to be finished before we bring equipment in. We will tell you if we think a structure is old enough to need one.

Is the disposal included?

Yes. Haul-off and legal disposal are in the quote. It is the largest part of most demolition jobs, so a quote without it is not comparable.
